The short answer

Workday Recruiting is part of Workday's HR suite, and Workday now positions it with HiredScore for talent discovery and Paradox for candidate conversations as one talent acquisition suite. Greenhouse is a standalone ATS with structured interviewing at its core, 450+ integrations, and an add-on that sends new-hire data to Workday. Neither publishes prices. The push to switch usually comes from HR or finance, to cut a second system, and recruiting teams usually push back. Compare total cost, including the tools you'd still buy on top, and what the recruiting workflow would lose.

What Workday publishes about Recruiting

Workday's Recruiting page describes a recruiting hub reachable from anywhere in Workday, task prioritization, a personalized workspace, and pipeline insight, and says the product works with the rest of Workday from workforce planning through onboarding. It doesn't list prices or say whether Recruiting is included in an existing Workday contract.

Workday has been adding to recruiting by acquisition. It announced its intent to acquire HiredScore on February 26, 2024, and it completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025. Workday now presents the three as one suite: HiredScore for talent discovery, Paradox for candidate conversations and self-scheduling, especially for frontline and high-volume roles, and Workday Recruiting for hiring and onboarding.

What Greenhouse publishes, including its Workday connector

Greenhouse sells Core, Plus, and Pro plans with no published prices. Structured interview kits and scorecards, an AI notetaker, scheduling, and reporting are in Core, and Greenhouse lists 450+ pre-built integrations.

Its connector to Workday is the HRIS Link for Workday add-on. According to Greenhouse's support documentation, data flows mainly one way: when a candidate is marked hired, Greenhouse sends the new hire, offer details such as compensation and equity, the resume and cover letter, and the signed offer letter to Workday to start onboarding. Dropdown field values sync from Workday into Greenhouse. It supports new hires, rehires, and transfers, but not contingent workers.

What buyers tell us

We talk with recruiting teams who are buying, renewing, or leaving these tools. Each point below is a pattern we heard from several teams, not a one-off story, written in our words. Vendor facts elsewhere on this page come from public sources.

  • The push comes from HR, people systems, or finance. The argument is cost and simplicity: one system, one vendor, no integration to maintain. Recruiting teams usually push back, and in some cases the decision slowed down or was reopened.
  • Recruiters rate HR-suite ATSs poorly. Recruiters described them as hard to use, and that applied to other HR-suite ATSs too, not only Workday.
  • Structured interviewing is what buyers credit Greenhouse for most. Interview kits and scorecards came up more than any other Greenhouse feature, so check what the alternative offers for your roles.
  • Integration cuts both ways. Teams that use Workday as their HR system and Greenhouse as their ATS described the integration as real work to build, which is part of why they stay.

How to make the call

  • Compare total cost, not license cost. On the Workday side, include whatever Recruiting, HiredScore, or Paradox would add to your contract, the recruiting tools you'd still buy, implementation, and retraining. On the Greenhouse side, include the subscription, the HRIS Link for Workday add-on, and integration upkeep.
  • Bring recruiting in before the bundle is signed. The decision goes better when the people who'll use the ATS every day help write the requirements.
  • Pilot a real requisition. Have a recruiter and a hiring manager run one real job through each system, including interview feedback on a phone.
  • Look at your hiring mix. Workday's Paradox is aimed at frontline and high-volume hiring. If most of your hiring is professional or technical roles, weigh structured interviewing and recruiter workflow more heavily.

Questions to ask

Ask Workday:

  1. Is Recruiting already in our contract, and are HiredScore and Paradox included or separate line items?
  2. Show us structured interview kits and scorecards for one of our real roles.
  3. Which of our current recruiting tools have a supported integration with Workday Recruiting?
  4. What's a realistic implementation timeline for our size, and who runs it?

Ask Greenhouse:

  1. What does the HRIS Link for Workday add-on cost, and what does it sync?
  2. How do you handle contingent workers, since the Workday connector doesn't support them?
  3. What renewal terms and increase cap will you put in writing if we commit to staying?

Frequently asked questions

Is Workday Recruiting included with Workday HCM?

Workday doesn't publish pricing or packaging for Recruiting. Ask your Workday account team whether Recruiting is in your current contract, and whether HiredScore and Paradox are included or separate line items.

Does Greenhouse integrate with Workday?

Yes, through the HRIS Link for Workday add-on. Greenhouse's documentation says it sends hire data from Greenhouse to Workday when a candidate is marked hired, including offer details, the resume and cover letter, and the signed offer letter. It supports new hires, rehires, and transfers, but not contingent workers.

What is Paradox, and does Workday own it?

Paradox is a conversational AI tool for candidate questions, applications, and self-scheduling, aimed at frontline and high-volume hiring. Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on October 1, 2025.

Should we move from Greenhouse to Workday Recruiting?

It depends on total cost and on your hiring mix. Compare the full cost on both sides, including tools you'd still buy, involve recruiting in the requirements, and pilot one real requisition in each system before deciding.
